Oh yeah, OT, 50 cal team would be PHENOMENAL. Move slower (the gun itself is about 90 lbs, tripod is 35, ammo is fuckin heavy), double setup time, but more damage than the mounted 50, suppression less than the .30, but longer range than the MG42.

4-5 man team, something ilke 400MP/80 mun, 8 support pool.

i like that idea.

.50 cal hmg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_Browning
It's basically the same gun on the HT, sherman and m18

but since it will be on the ground, the accuracy will be better than on top of a vehicle.

Actually, the vehicle mount is just as stable as a tripod. On top of that, the use of a .50 over any range requires pre-sighted positions and settings.

M1919A6 had a RoF of 500 RPM.

M2HB had a RoF of 550 RPM.

Faster RoF to the .50, pl0x.

I was going to suggest this in my PDF, do want. Add pl0x.

Fair nuff, but everyone else that posted earlier stated that the .50 had a slower RoF--untrue to the max.

M2HB could pull off well-aimed shots at almost a mile with a well-trained crew (on rare occasion). Not in the slightest, Tym.

Well I meant you know, firing on a moving platform haha.

nothing requires pre-sighted positions and settings. it would render a weapon usless for anything other then defence as the slightest movement would make its settings invalid.

Plus the combination of tracer rounds, iron sites and being able to judge distance to any degree helps quite a bit.

Not over any real distance. I have run a few .50 ranges. If you want to use its range for anything other than area suppression you need to have pre sighted settings. I'm not talking 500m, but 1000+. You know, where its actually better than something like an MG42or .30.

Yes you can fire by trying to aim it, but good luck using the shit iron sights. Better off just trying to walk it in.

Eh, the iron sights aren't that bad. I could whack 800m targets with it in a single shot. With a T&E you can put every shot in the same spot at that range too.

Wacking a target the size if a vehicle is very different than hitting a moving person that's trying not to get hit.

Who, the, fuck, cares?

The thing is. It is a heavy machinegun. Fun for US Army. Fun unlock to suppress axis infantry. Has long range, has higher punch. Is slower to deploy and move. Has 4 men. Is cool. Those are the main points why.

Itd be cool Cheesy

Units should be added as needed. Not just to add units.
